What makes a Christmas movie?

People count Die Hard as a Christmas movie because it takes place at Christmas. Why isn't the Sci-Fi Thriller "Dark Angel" counted as a Christmas movie? It takes place at Christmas time and the alien says "I come in peace" before he kills people.
