You know the trend when a entertainment franchise (like the 1980s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon, the Office, etc) becomes really popular, there tends to be a horde of rip offs that follow suit to siphon off that franchise's popularity? How do the creators and staff behind those rip offs ensure they don't get their asses sued by copyright lawyers for plagiarism?
