Idaho School Shooting: The teenager went to school with a gun in his bag and shot

A teenager went to school with a gun in her bag. He went to school and fired randomly. Two students and a school worker were injured. The incident took place in the US state of Idaho on Thursday. The BBC quoted the police as saying.

The teenager is a sixth grader at Rigby Middle School in Rigby, Idaho. According to the police, the girl will be 11 or 12 years old. Three people injured in his shooting are currently safe.

According to local county sheriff Steve Anderson, the teenager went to school with a gun in her bag. He pulled a gun out of his bag and started firing before leaving at the end of class. He fired several shots at random. Two students and a school worker were injured. At one point a teacher snatched the gun from him.

Sheriff Steve Anderson said, "A teacher was able to disarm the girl and detain her until security forces arrived." She said the girl was now in police custody.

The motive is still unknown at this time. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and local law enforcement agencies are investigating the incident.

One student was shot once in an extremity and may require surgery, said Dr. Michael Lemon, the hospital’s trauma medical director. The other student was potentially shot twice and hit in two limbs.

“The fact the injuries are as insignificant as they are — they could be so much worse, so we feel absolutely blessed,” Lemon said.
