Jack Ma, the co-founder of Alibaba, has not been seen in public for a considerable amount of time. According to the Financial Times, he has been taking refuge in Tokyo, Japan for the past six months. It is speculated that he went into hiding in Tokyo shortly after Beijing cracked down on tech firms.

Masaoshi Son, the founder of SoftBank Group Corp. and an early investor in Alibaba, is reportedly a close friend of Jack Ma. Reports from insiders indicate that Ma is visiting different parts of Japan while staying in the country. It is also believed that he visits the United States and Israel periodically.

It is further reported that Jack Ma is living in Japan's Ginza and Marunouchi districts, with a bodyguard for security and a private chef to prepare meals. He has also become a collector of modern art since his stay in Japan.

Jack Ma was one of the most influential entrepreneurs in the technology sector in China and was its richest man before he began to criticize the Communist Party of China's (CPC) financial sector. Subsequently, the Chinese government started to increase its surveillance of Ma's establishments, as well as suspending the initial public offering (IPO) of Ant Group Corporation, a technology manufacturing company established by him. After that, Beijing initiated more stringent measures against China's private sector.

Ma has not been publicly visible since this incident, which is a stark contrast to his regular appearances at various big conferences before this ordeal.
